METROBANK FOUNDATION PAINTING AND ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION NOW ON

March 2009 – Metrobank Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the Metrobank Card Corporation, United Architects of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, Federal Land and BluPrint, is inviting all painters and sculptors, 18 to 35 years old, and all registered architects, 25 to 45 years old, to join the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) National Competition.

The competitions have an open theme. Entries for the Painting Competition can either be oil-based medium on canvas or water media on paper, with sizes ranging from 18” x 24” to 36” x 48”, without the frame. Entries for the Sculpture Competition should be made of either one or a combination of metal, wood, stone, glass, fired clay, resin or fiberglass. A base not exceeding 2” may be used.

Entries for the MADE Painting and Sculpture Competition will be accepted until May 9, 2009 at the Metrobank Foundation office, 15/F, Metrobank Plaza, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City.

On the other hand, those for the Architecture Competition should be existing structures of completed and occupied, for at least a year, single-detached residences in the country. Each architect can submit a maximum of two designs, which must be original, have not been submitted in any other competition and have not received any award from national or international design competitions.

Submission for entries for the MADE Architecture Competition is open until May 26, 2009 at the United Architects of the Philippines National Secretariat, 5/F, #53 Scout Rallos St., Bgy. Laging Handa, Diliman, Quezon City.

Interested parties can call the Metrobank Foundation at 898.8856 or the United Architects of the Philippines at 412.6403. Entry forms are available in select Metrobank branches or download at www.MBfoundation.org.ph.

At stake is a cash prize of P200,000 for Grand Prize Winners in oil-based medium on canvas, water media on paper and sculpture categories, and P150,000 for Special Prize Winners in the last two categories. The Architecture Competition’s Grand Prize Winner will receive P200,000.

The MADE Awarding Ceremonies and Exhibit is slated in September 2009.

MADE is formerly known as the Young Painters’ Annual, which was established by the Foundation in 1984. The new competitions represent a big leap in corporate art sponsorship by opening new opportunities for artistic recognition and thus help enhance the careers of talented and promising painters, sculptors, architects and interior designers.
